The Betty Kitson

On Wednesday the Ladies Centre held their one day bonspiel, which 12 teams competed in. Teams from Curl Aberdeen and other Rinks played with Liz Paul's team coming out winners.
The day started with Marion Malcolm welcoming all the competitors, with Tea/Coffee and Butteries on offer. They played 4 ends and came off for some lunch of Soup and Sandwiches and did their Tombola, as well as, looking round the stalls that had been arranged by the organising committee for the ladies to browse and shop. They again went back on the Ice for 4 ends and waiting for the players coming off were Tea/Coffee and Scones with Clotted Cream and Jam and they completed a quiz made by the Ladies Centre before going on for their final 4 ends of the day.

Ugie Bonspiel

Saturday saw Ugie hold their 2nd Invitational Bonspiel, it was a busy day with lots of the Curlers travelling to come play in this competition, including a Moray Junior team. Ugie had lots of sponsorship (AnCnoc Single Malt Whisky, Caorunn Gin, Taylor's Furniture and BIBBB) for their one day event with lots of drink prizes to be won. Turriff's team Skipped by Steven Eddie came out winners with Team Leudi (Donalds CC) finishing runners-up. Photo's can be found on Ugie's Facebook page here.

Outside Competitions

This week sees a number of Curl Aberdeen members playing competitions, with Edinburgh International being held at Murrayfield, Team Brewster and Team Edwards (who look to defend their title) playing. I am told this event is being streamed (this information was passed on by Scott Macleod, so if it isn't then blame him) with Team Edwards playing Aberdeen old boy Paul Stevenson,  one of the streamed games.  Wheelchair Triples is being held at Inverness during this week with members of the Curl Aberdeen Wheelchair Club competing, Inverness also hosted the Inverness Skins last weekend. Willie Jamieson and David Kelly playing there too, and again back with Inverness, it sees the Junior International competition being held this coming weekend with Fraser Kingan, Thomas Halder, James Hay and Rebecca Morrison competing from the club in this.
