End of September update

Granite City Ladies

During their first session of the season Granite City Ladies had a coaching session to ease themselves into the new season, during the two hours they took a coffee break, which Rona Thom brought out a DVD of their 25th Anniversary of their curling club. Below is a picture of their coffee break, as you can see they were engrossed in the DVD and didn't notice the camera.

Coaches Wanted

Over the last two weeks the club has been busy with a lot of curling's cool and corporate curling, and we are at full capacity until Christmas for corporate, a big increase from the last couple of years. So much so we are stretched for coaches. Anyone available that has gone through the coaching the course and is needing to fill in their 10 hours to pass or has completed the 10 hours and would like to help coach these social events please contact Ryan at development@curl-aberdeen.co.uk.

Or if you haven't been through the course and want to be a qualified coach and help the club then there is a course being held at Curl Aberdeen on the 11th October. If you follow the link here you can download the form needed and post your application away.

Outside Competitions

Last few weeks Curl Aberdeen members have been playing competitions around other ice rinks and been rather successful. First off Team Mouat won the European Junior Tour Event at Braehead, Team Mouat consists of Curl Aberdeen members Derrick Sloan and Angus Dowell. Team Brewster won The Braehead Open, part of the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour, last weekend. Well done to those teams. This weekend sees Team Brewster compete in the Swiss Cup, Basel, let's hope he brings back more than just Swiss chocolate. The Asham Under 21 slam is in Kinross this weekend and Curl Aberdeen Members on show there are Thomas Halder (Team Brydone), Fraser Kingan (Team Bryce), Rebecca Morrison (skips her own), James Hay (skips his own), Scott Lockhart (skips his own). Dumfries Ice Bowl sees the Scottish Curling Tour continue, with Team Edwards (David Edwards, John Penny and Scott Macleod, follow their antics here) and Team Mouat playing. Good luck to all competitors across the weekend!
