Busy Weekend

Outside Competitions

The weekend past was a very busy weekend for Curling and for Curl Aberdeen members, not only as I mentioned in the previous post, the Perth Masters was on, so was the Scottish Senior Qualifiers, Scottish Junior Curling Club Challenge Div 1 & 2 and the Bern Ladies Cup.

Perth Masters saw Team Brewster, with Tom on the sidelines, make the C road Semi-final having come up against the likes of Drozdov, McCormick and Kim Soo Hyuk. Team Edwards got one further and went to the C road Final, having come up against Ross McCleary, Team China, Kauste and Kyle Smith. Team Mouat were the most successful team with Curl Aberdeen members in it, reaching the quarters, being knocked out by Kyle Smith, this years runners-up at the Masters. The team which went on to win the competition was Canadian Brad Gushue.  Photograph's below are all copyright of Tom Brydone.

The Scottish Senior Qualifiers were divided between Forfar and Ayr ice rinks. With Willie Jamieson skipping a team involving David Kelly. Billy Henderson and his team full of Curl Aberdeen memebers, Barton Henderson, Roy Henderson and Will Davidson-Gall. Team Jamieson (Tena for Men) qualified from their section.

Scottish Junior Club Challenge is a competition in which Junior clubs in Scotland play each other. Each club enters two teams, both teams results count to final standings, this year it was held at Murryfield. Curl Aberdeen Juniors are in Division 2, and are still in Division 2. Our Junior teams were skipped by Scott Lockhart and Nicol Craik. Big thank you to Jackie and Karen for taking the Juniors down to Murryfield this year and leaving at 6am to do so.

Bern Ladies Cup saw Curl Aberdeen member Rebecca Morrison join up with the Great Britain Uni, skipped by Hazel Smith. they won one game losing four, one of the games included a close game against the World and European Championships Binia Feltscher.
